Who We Are
At Pedal Progression, we are driven by a simple belief: mountain biking should be
accessible to everyone. We are passionate about the benefits of our sport and
dedicated to ensuring these are available to all, irrespective of race, culture, gender,
sexuality, disability, learning needs, financial circumstances, or location.
Our mission is to build a thriving community of riders that truly reflects the diversity of Bristol’s people.
We recognise that barriers to participation persist. We are committed to identifying
and addressing these challenges and strive to be an inclusive and welcoming space
for all who wish to ride with us.
What We Do
Pedal Progression’s approach to coaching and hire is centred around individuality
within community. We provide high-quality, person-centred coaching that considers
every rider’s specific needs. Creating a space where every participant feels safe,
heard, and respected is at the core of our coaching philosophy. We want everyone
who rides with us to feel confident, supported, and excited to return.
Our current practices to ensure inclusivity include:
- Training all core staff members in anti-racism, disability awareness,
and gender and sexuality inclusivity. - Actively listening to feedback and remaining responsive to barriers that
may arise. - Offering coaches of diverse genders and striving to accommodate
specific requests. - Providing bespoke coaching options for diverse communities; if you
have a group seeking coaching, we’re here to help! - Accommodating adjustments in areas like location, pricing, session
structure, and coaching style. - Providing a variety of bike and helmet sizes to ensure all riders are
comfortably equipped. - Working closely with an equality and diversity consultant to uphold best
practices.
Our Plans for the Future:
Our journey towards inclusivity and representation is ongoing. We aim to create a
community where every rider feels they belong, reflecting our commitment to
diversity and equality.
To achieve this, we pledge to:
- Continue our staff’s professional development through training on
inclusivity, with a focus on enhancing understanding and sensitivity
toward all riders’ needs. - Maintain transparency about our goals and intentions, ensuring that
our commitment to inclusivity is evident in every aspect of our
service. - Provide simple ways for riders to communicate their needs before a
session, enabling us to prepare and fulfil our promise of a
welcoming, accommodating environment.
At Pedal Progression, we know there is always more to learn, and we remain open
to feedback and growth. We look forward to building a truly representative and
inclusive community of riders and welcome everyone to join us in this journey.
