New bike day is always a great day. New hire bike day is no different… We’ve just had a drop of 2020 Marin Bobcat 5’s and we are buzzing! There are some subtle changes over last years bike which we’ll detail in this short blog.
Firstly, the new paint job is stunning. A metallic with orange accents look classic, classy and striking.
Shimano hydraulic disc brakes are powerful and responsive. Careful not to skid though!
WTB Trail Boss tyres not only look cool with their tanned walls but give heaps of grip where you need it on the trail.
All of our hire bikes come fitted with a bottle cage. They are designed only to hold a sports bottle. Please bring one with you or you can buy one from us. Plastic bottled water, coke bottles and cans will fall out which is frustrating for you and bad news for the environment.
Upgraded Nukeproof pedals will keep your feet glued for maximum control.
The seat tube diameter has been changed up to a 30.9 in order to take a dropper post (telescopic seat post). A dropper isn’t included in the stock spec but the ability to retrofit one is a great option. Widened seat stays on the 2020 frame mean better tyre clearance for wider rubber.
This year, each of our hire bikes will come with a Pedal Progression team mudguard fitted to help keep trail filth from your eyes and face. The mudguards are also available in our shop for just £10. Don’t they look banging!?
An 11 speed drive train takes care of hills with a wide range 11-46 tooth cassette and Shimano Deore derailleur.
SR Suntour forks replace RockShox this year with a 15mm bolt through axle and 120mm of bump taming travel.
Once again we’ve fitted lock on grips to all of the hire bikes, preventing them from slipping in wet weather.
