Our favourite British bike brand is kindly updating our hire fleet to the next generation of 801 hardtail. Whyte have started shipping out their 2022 range of bikes and a few have landed at the shop, with plenty more on their way for you to hire in the near future! Let’s take a closer look…
The new 801 features its classic light alloy frame, slack geometry and an improved chainstay to keep the good times rolling. With 780mm bars and a short stem, agility and balance go hand in hand, making you feel planted on the trail. 27.5 inch Maxxis Forecaster tyres provide superb grip and low rolling resistance to keep things fast and fun!
Internally routed cables keeps things tidy.
Tektro hydraulic disc brakes provide powerful braking that inspires confidence.
Rockshox bring the bounce with their Recon fork – 120mm of air sprung travel for finer tuning, progressive damping and comfier ride.
The drivetrain boasts a Shimano Deore derailleur, 10 speed cassette (11-46 T) and a 32T single chain ring on the front, for a wide range of gears and simple operation.
The rear also hosts a new and improved freehub with the audibly satisfying ‘ticking’ sound that’s sweet music to the ears of any mountain bike lover. A tool less thru-axle allows effortless wheel removal and makes our job easier when the time comes for servicing and repairs. This is a welcomed change from its 4mm Allen key predecessor and is much more user friendly.
The updated model also comes with a totally new and much improved seat clamp (a revolution in design from previous models) for easier seat height adjustment. Our branded fork fenders help to keep the crud at bay.
We are thrilled with the new model from Whyte. It looks good, feels good and rides like the dream on our trails. It’s light weight build with modern geometry makes it fast and and super playful on the descents but maintains it’s comfort and efficiency on the climbs. We know you’re going to love it.
